Double Chin Reduction
Kybella® in Albuquerque
The only FDA-approved injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells beneath the chin for a slimmer, more defined profile.
About This Treatment
Eliminate submental fullness without surgery

Submental fullness — commonly known as a double chin — is a condition that affects both men and women regardless of age or body weight. It can be caused by genetics, weight gain, or the natural aging process. For many people in Albuquerque, diet and exercise alone are not enough to address this stubborn pocket of fat beneath the chin.
Kybella® is administered as a series of injections to the treatment area under the chin, destroying fat cells and producing gradual results. Everyone's chin profile is different, so your Bair Medical Spa clinician will tailor treatment to you. The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells. Over a period of time, those cells are cleared away through the natural processes of your body, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

Ideal Candidates
Is Kybella® right for you?
Kybella may be right for you if you are bothered by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness. You may feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are. Many candidates prefer a non-surgical alternative to liposuction or other invasive procedures.
Good candidates for Kybella eat well and exercise regularly, but find that submental fullness does not go away despite their efforts. The treatment is appropriate for adults aged 18 and older who are in good general health and have realistic expectations about outcomes.
During your consultation at Bair Medical Spa in Albuquerque, your clinician will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if Kybella is the best approach for your goals. They will discuss your medical history, assess the amount of submental fat, and create a personalized treatment plan.
What to Expect
The Kybella® treatment process
Before starting treatment, your Bair Medical Spa clinician will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if Kybella is right for you. They will mark the injection sites and may apply ice or a topical numbing agent to ensure your comfort.
At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin. The injection process takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
Treatment sessions are spaced at least one month apart. Many patients achieve their desired results in two to four sessions, although up to six sessions may be needed. Your clinician will monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.
After each session, you may experience swelling, bruising, or numbness in the treatment area. These effects are temporary and typically resolve within one to two weeks. You can return to most daily activities shortly after treatment.
Recovery & Results
What happens after treatment
After your Kybella treatment, you may experience swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Swelling is the most common side effect and typically peaks two to three days after treatment before gradually subsiding over one to two weeks.
Most patients can return to work and normal activities within a day or two. You should avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days and follow any aftercare instructions provided by your clinician. Applying ice to the treated area can help manage swelling.
Results develop gradually as your body processes and eliminates the destroyed fat cells. Many patients begin to see a visible reduction in submental fullness after two to four treatments. Because the fat cells are permanently destroyed, your results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a stable weight.
