Advanced Skin Resurfacing in Albuquerque

Chemical peel and day spa treatment at Bair Medical Spa Albuquerque

Bair Medical Spa offers a comprehensive suite of day spa treatments that our clients use to refine the benefits of their facial enhancement and skin rejuvenation procedures — or as standalone treatments for healthier, more radiant skin.

Our licensed aestheticians — trained and certified by the Aveda Institute, Avenue Academy, and Paul Mitchell the School — bring years of expertise to every treatment. Marissa Ortiz, our lead aesthetician, was recently voted one of the best aestheticians in Albuquerque by readers of Albuquerque The Magazine.

Each treatment is tailored to your specific skin type and concerns. Whether you are dealing with sun damage from New Mexico's high-altitude climate, early signs of aging, acne, or simply dull and uneven skin tone, we have a treatment protocol designed to deliver visible results.

PCA Skin Rejuvenating Peel Treatments

Chemical peels are often thought of as aggressive treatments that produce substantial discomfort. PCA skin rejuvenating peel treatments are very different from that standard. Our PCA skin solutions are blends formulated with many ingredients including lactic acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), plumping phytohormones, and kojic and azelaic acids to produce dramatic results without the discomfort and downtime associated with traditional chemical peels.

Receiving a PCA skin professional treatment at Bair Medical Spa is gentle, not time-consuming, and can even be relaxing. PCA skin was the first company to pioneer the use of blended chemical peels, and their formulations use a combination of safe yet effective acids to ensure maximum results with minimal irritation. These peels are appropriate for all skin types, including sensitive skin and darker skin tones.

PCA skin rejuvenating peel treatments are not limited to the face. These versatile peels can also be applied to the neck, chest, hands, arms, and back to address sun damage, uneven skin tone, and signs of aging on the body. Each treatment is customized to your specific skin type and concerns.

European Facials & Dermaplaning

Each European facial treatment at Bair Medical Spa begins with facial cleansing before a personalized skin analysis to ensure the treatment meets the unique needs of your skin. Using medical-grade products that treat a range of skin needs — from acne reduction to anti-aging treatment — two customized masques are applied.

Following the masques, a relaxing facial, neck, shoulder, and decollete massage is performed to stimulate circulation and promote relaxation. The treatment concludes with the application of targeted serums and moisturizers selected specifically for your skin type. The entire European facial treatment takes approximately one hour and leaves your skin feeling refreshed, hydrated, and rejuvenated.

Dermaplaning is a technique with which the dead, dull, outer layers of the skin are exfoliated with the gentle use of a blade. This treatment more effectively exfoliates than microdermabrasion and, in addition, removes fine vellus hair from the skin. At Bair Medical Spa, dermaplaning is followed by the application of a salicylic Clarifying Mask from PCA skin. You will leave us with your skin feeling smoother and looking more radiant.

Microdermabrasion & the Vampire Facial

Microdermabrasion is a safe, effective, and non-invasive skin rejuvenation therapy. Using a directed stream of micro-crystals and suction to exfoliate the skin while increasing circulation to the treated area, microdermabrasion is a powerful yet gentle anti-aging treatment that allows your body to renew your skin and stimulate collagen production.

The Vampire Facial Procedure uses blood-derived growth factors to rejuvenate the skin, smooth fine lines, and improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. A clinician performs microneedling on the treatment area, creating tiny channels in the skin that stimulate the body's natural healing response. Then growth factors isolated from your blood — including PDGF, TGF-b, VEGF, EGF, FGF2, and IGF — are applied topically to the micro-channeled skin, allowing these powerful regenerative factors to penetrate deeply.

These growth factors work together to stimulate the body's own regenerative processes, promoting new collagen production, improved skin texture, and a more youthful appearance. A series of three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal results.

What to Expect

01

Skin Analysis & Consultation

Your treatment begins with a thorough skin analysis. Your aesthetician evaluates your skin type, concerns, and goals to select the appropriate treatment protocol — whether that is a PCA peel, European facial, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, or a combination.

02

Preparation & Cleansing

The treatment area is thoroughly cleansed to remove makeup, oils, and impurities. For European facials, this step includes a detailed personalized skin analysis to ensure the treatment meets the unique needs of your skin.

03

Treatment Application

Your clinician applies the selected treatment. For PCA peels, blended acid solutions are applied to the skin. For dermaplaning, a gentle blade exfoliates dead skin and vellus hair. For the Vampire Facial, microneedling is performed followed by the application of PRP growth factors.

04

Post-Treatment Care

Targeted serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen are applied to protect and nourish your newly treated skin. Your aesthetician provides aftercare instructions and may recommend medical-grade skincare products for at-home maintenance.

Recovery & Results

One of the greatest advantages of day spa treatments at Bair Medical Spa is minimal downtime. PCA skin peels, European facials, and dermaplaning are designed to let you return to your normal activities immediately.

After a PCA peel, you may experience mild flaking or dryness for two to three days as new skin is revealed beneath. This is normal and indicates that the treatment is working. Avoid direct sun exposure and apply sunscreen diligently — especially important in Albuquerque's high-altitude climate.

Dermaplaning leaves skin immediately smoother with no downtime. Microdermabrasion may cause slight redness that typically resolves within a few hours. The Vampire Facial may produce mild redness and sensitivity for one to three days, with full results developing over several weeks as collagen production increases.

Most clients see noticeable improvement after their first treatment, with cumulative benefits building over a series of sessions. For PCA peels performed alongside FotoFacial RF Pro treatments, the peels enhance the penetration of light and radiofrequency energy for even more dramatic results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing treatment that applies a solution of blended acids to exfoliate damaged outer layers of skin, revealing smoother, more radiant skin beneath. At Bair Medical Spa, we use PCA skin rejuvenating peel treatments that combine ingredients like lactic acid, ascorbic acid, kojic acid, and azelaic acid to produce dramatic results without the discomfort and downtime of traditional chemical peels.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

Most clients benefit from a chemical peel every four to six weeks. For clients undergoing FotoFacial RF Pro treatments, PCA skin peels are performed between sessions to enhance the penetration of light and radiofrequency energy. Your Bair Medical Spa aesthetician will recommend a treatment schedule based on your skin type, concerns, and goals.

Is there downtime after a chemical peel?

PCA skin rejuvenating peel treatments at Bair Medical Spa are designed to produce results without significant downtime. Unlike aggressive traditional peels, our blended formulations are gentle and can even be relaxing. Most clients return to normal activities immediately. You may experience mild flaking or dryness for a few days as new skin is revealed.

What skin concerns do chemical peels treat?

Chemical peels effectively treat sun damage, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, age spots, fine lines, acne, enlarged pores, and dull or rough skin texture. PCA skin peels can be applied not only to the face but also to the neck, chest, hands, arms, and back to address signs of aging and damage on the body.

What is a Vampire Facial?

The Vampire Facial Procedure combines microneedling with blood-derived growth factors (PRP) applied topically to the skin. A clinician creates tiny channels in the skin through microneedling, then applies isolated growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, EGF, and FGF2. These stimulate your body's regenerative processes, promoting new collagen production and improved skin texture. A series of three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart is typically recommended.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation technique that uses a gentle blade to remove the dead, dull outer layers of skin along with fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). It exfoliates more effectively than microdermabrasion and leaves skin feeling smoother and looking more radiant. At Bair Medical Spa, dermaplaning is followed by a PCA skin salicylic Clarifying Mask for enhanced results.
